How the Working Days Left in Year works
The Working Days Left in Year calculator counts the business days remaining from today (or any start date) until 31 December, excluding weekends and the public holidays of the country you choose. It turns a vague "we’re running out of runway" into an exact number of working days left to spend.
Quarter-end and year-end targets are set in months, but they are hit in working days — and the back half of the year is dense with holidays that quietly shrink the real number. Counting calendar days left flatters the plan; counting working days tells you what you can actually deliver.
Worked example
On 1 October there are 92 calendar days left in the year, but after weekends and a typical run of fourth-quarter public holidays the working-day figure is closer to 62 — and that smaller number is the one your delivery plan has to fit inside.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count from today or a date I choose?
Either. It defaults to today for a live countdown, but you can set any start date to see the working days remaining from a specific point in the year.
Are the year’s public holidays removed?
Yes. Saturdays, Sundays, and the public holidays of your selected country are all excluded, so the figure reflects genuine working capacity rather than raw calendar days.
What is it used for?
Year-end and quarter-end planning, capacity and delivery forecasting, and gauging how much working time is realistically left to hit annual targets.
